The Executive Director of the Knox County Development Corporation believes they’ve made a strong case for securing a grant through the state’s Regional Cities  Initiative.

Kent Utt says a strategic review committee spent the day in Vincennes Thursday touring the city and discussing with local leaders their vision for improving Kimmel Park, as well as the Pantheon and New Moon Theaters in Downtown Vincennes.

Knox County is partnering with Sullivan and Vigo Counties to secure a 34-million dollar grant. The grants are intended to address quality of life issues that will result in attracting more people to Southwestern Indiana.

Utt says the Strategic Review Committee will meet next week to review and make recommendations to the Indiana Economic Development Commission in December.

Seven other regions in the state have also submitted projects for the committee to consider.
