The United Way of Knox County’s annual fall campaign is underway.

In addition to providing funding for local not-for-profit agencies, United Way officials are seeking funds for a Lilly Endowment grant that will provide 40-thousand dollars to Knox County’s three public school systems.

Kaleena McCormick, one of the Co-Chair’s of this year’s United Way campaign says the Early Education Initiative grant is geared towards helping students achieve success in the classroom.

On top of that, McCormick says the grant will provide funding for tudors to assist students in preparing for the I-Read exam given in third grade.

McCormick is calling on past and current donors to dig a little deeper this year in order to help the United Way secure the grant. New and increased donations of 100-dollars or more will be applied to the local match.
