Duke Energy has reached a settlement with big industrial customers of a proposed rate hike to cover costs at the Edwardsport coal gasification plant:
Duke Energy Spokeswoman Angeline Protogere (ANN-juh-lin PRAH-tuh-jurr) says the deal limits Duke’s Ability to seek future rate hikes for the Edwardsport plant.
Duke will eat 85-million dollars in costs it had asked to pass on to ratepayers.
If utility regulators approve the deal, the average homeowner will get a 50-cent credit for three months before the rate hike kicks in.
The Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission still must approve the agreement.
