Jamie Sue Leighty, age 39 of rural St. Francisville, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, September 7, 2015 after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born in Mt. Carmel on June 21, 1976 to Jeff Lane and Kathy Litherland. She was raised by her maternal grandparents, Tom and Betty Litherland.
Jamie married Greg Leighty at Zion United Methodist Church on July 17, 2004, and he survives.
Jamie loved spending time with her family, especially vacationing. They went to Yellowstone National Park every year. Her favorite places were Cody, WY and Astoria, OR. She also enjoyed photography.
Survivors include: her husband- Greg Leighty of rural St. Francisville: two children- Ethan and Gracie Leighty at home: in-laws- Glenn and Karen Leighty of rural St. Francisville: one brother- Jared Potts of Lawrenceville: her father and step-mother- Jeff and Marie Lane of rural St. Francisville: and her aunt- Monica Carie.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Kathy Litherland, and her grandparents.
A funeral service will be held for Jamie Sue Leighty at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 11, 2015 at the Zion United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Cunningham-Young Funeral Home in Lawrenceville. Burial will take place in the Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery.
