Earl H. “Steve” Camp

Earl H. “Steve” Camp age 90 of rural Lawrenceville, Illinois passed away Friday, September 4, 2015 at the United Methodist Village. He was born June 24, 1925 in Robinson, Illinois, the son of Lavern Camp and Mary (Steinkamp) Camp. He married Betty Ross Tanquary Camp on June 25, 1978 and she survives.
Steve retired from Marathon Oil Refinery after 37 years. After retirement from Marathon he worked at Dick Fessel’s Clothing Store in Lawrenceville, IL. and Albert’s Clothing Store in Vincennes, IN. He served his country in the Army during World War II. He was a graduate of Oblong High School where he was active in sports playing football and basketball. His memberships include the Chauncey United Methodist Church and Elks Club. He enjoyed the many years he was an Official for IHSA and enjoyed gardening and lawn work. He was an avid Lawrenceville High School sports fan.

Preceding Steve in death were his parents and two brothers and four sisters.

Survivors include his wife Betty, four daughters, Julie Lockhart (Bill) of Lawrenceville, Il., Janice Stoltz of Evansville, In., Timmi Jill Henry of Deerfield Beach, Fla. and Kim (Dan) Ritchie of Lawrenceville, Il. eight grandchildren: Brandon Lockhart, Britteny Lockhart, Grant Stoltz, Allyson Stoltz, Maryn Stoltz, Madison Stoltz, Brielle Stephens, Chloe Stephens and one great-grandchild Bradon Lockhart. One sister Lucille Hedges of Robinson, IL, along with several nieces and nephews. Lastly his faithful companions, Mr. Gra , Miss Emme and Chance.

Funeral services will be Tuesday afternoon 4:00p.m. at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, IL. Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon from 3:00 p.m. till the service hour of 4:00p.m. Burial will be in the Lawrenceville City Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Lawrence County Humane Society.
