As reported last month, the number of sexually transmitted infections or STI’s  and teen pregnancy have been on the rise in the past five years in Daviess County.

It has risen enough for the Daviess County Public Health Nurse, Kathy Sullenders to work with state officials to secure funding for testing at the county health department. She also secured some local funding from the commissioners.

Sullenders says one  STI is particularly increasing in the county…

Testing is available Monday through Thursday from 7:30 to 4:30-pm at the health office on Hefron Street behind the courthouse.  The cost is a donation 25 dollars for children 14 and up and for adults with no insurance or medicaid.  If you can’t pay, officials will work with you to get you tested and get it paid for.  It takes 4 to 5 days to get results back.  For more information you can contact the Daviess County Health Department.
