Semi hits pedestrian in Pike County

A Birdseye man was taken to the hospital after authorities say he was hit by a semi in Pike County.

The accident happened around 12:45 pm Friday on State Road 56, one mile east of SR 61.

Indiana State Police says the 58-year-old man was hit by a coal truck as he was getting into his pickup. Police say the man was taken to Deaconess Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities say the semi did not stop after striking the man and police are now on the lookout for the vehicle..
