A vintage car was destroyed in a fire on Washington Avenue in Vincennes Friday morning. Vincennes firefigthers responded to a call at 1036 Washington Avenue.

Battlion Chief Tony Jarrell says the owner of the building was working on one of the vehicle’s stored inside when a gasoline spill sparked a fire.

The building belongs to David Grayson. No injuries were reported. Firefighters arrived on the scene around 11:32 am and had the fire out in a matter of minutes.

Traffic on Washington Avenue between College and Wabash was shutdown for about 45 minutes while firemen put out the blaze and used ventiliation fans to clear the building of smoke.
