Knox County budget to include a 3% employee raise

pay-raise

Knox County employees can expect to see a little more “green” in their wallet in 2016.

The County Council included a 3-percent pay raise for all full-time employees in next year’s budget.

In addition, Council President Bob Lechner says they’ve also created a category for longevity pay.

Lechner says longevity pay is something that employees and office holders have advocated for several years as a way to reward those workers who’ve worked for the county a long time.

He says they still need to run it past the county attorney to iron out all the legal ramifications.

Meanwhile….Lechner says the county highway department will be receiving an additional 470-thousand dollars that they were not expecting.

Overall Lechner says the budget process went very smoothly. He says several of the budgets submitted were passed without any changes being made.

The Council has scheduled a meeting to officially adopt the budget on September 8th. It will be sent to the Department of Local Government and Finance for further review.
