Bicknell City Council chooses the clerk’s budget over their own and the mayor’s

budget-2-2

Members of the Bicknell City Council were presented with three budget options last night during a work session at City Hall.

The Mayor, Council and Clerk-Treasurer’s office each presented their budget proposals for discussion.

Mayor Jon Flickinger’s budget included a 3-percent pay raise for city employees while the council’s proposed budget provided for a 2-point-6 percent raise.

The budget presented by the Clerk-Treasurer’s office was about the same as a year ago with no raises for city workers.

Clerk-Treasurer Becky McGlone says she didn’t think the city could afford to give raises.

She indicated that instead of being frugal, the city spent more money than and it took in this past year.

McGlone added even with the 1-point-4 million dollar budget she’s proposing further cuts will most likely be needed to match tax revenue projections.

Council members elected to go with the numbers presented by the Clerk’s office. A public hearing on the budget is set for September 8th at 7 pm at City Hall
