This month’s, VU Board of Trustees meeting was held at the VU Jasper Campus on Wednesday.

Several items on the agenda as the board approved an employment agreement for Interim President Chuck Johnson, effective August 1. Johnson was named interim president following the retirement of Dick Helton, who retired July 31.
The Board welcomed new student trustee Joslyn Denise Gray, of Indianapolis, who is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education/Special Education. She serves as president of Today’s Black Women and is a VU Student Ambassador.

The Board received a preliminary report indicating that system wide enrollment on the first day of class is up 150 students compared to last year and that enrollment of Illinois students grew from 111 to 168, a trend that is hoped to grow due to the introduction of the Illinois Scholarship that brings the net cost of attending VU to the in-state student cost.
