The Knox County Bicentennial Committee is reaching out to churches, schools and other organizations for legacy events that will tie in with the State’s Bicentennial celebration next year.

Committee member Mark Hill says churches or even businesses that might be celebrating a milestone next year are welcome to submit information that will be included on the State’s Bicentennial Calendar.

Hill says events can be submitted to the state’s bicentennial website for inclusion on their events calendar. Knox County also has a Bicentennial Facebook page  www.facebook.com/KnoxCo2016

Meanwhile, the Bicentennial Committee is seeking nominations for persons interested in carrying the Bicentennial Torch as it travels through Knox County next year.

Hill says they want all of Knox County to be represented and they are especially looking for more nominations from the North Knox Area.

Nomintation forms are available at Bicknell City Hall, Vincennes City Hall and the Vincennes/Knox County Visitors and Tourism Bureau.

Hill says people of all ages are welcome to apply.
