A grand opening ceremony and official dedication happening today  scheduled for a new Indiana Railroad bridge that stretches over the White River north of Elnora.

The new White River Bridge represents a vital $14 million investment for sustaining southwest Indiana commerce and future economic development.

The bridge allows for 40 mph rail operations and industry-maximum freight car weights.

The bridge it replaces, an 1899-built bridge with speed and weight restrictions, put major employers and shippers from Daviess County south to the Ohio River at a competitive disadvantage in the marketplace.

Indiana Senator Joe Donnelly, Congressman Larry Bucshon and Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann will speak at the event.
