Vincennes School Board votes to make improvements to the school

New renovations are in store for Vincennes Lincoln High School. The Vincennes Community School Corporation met last evening to discuss and approve a 2 year lease that would allow for the VCSC to place 2 million dollars in debt in order to complete some projects related to the high school. The need to incur debt is a result of paying Lincoln High School off in December. For the purpose of the debt being incurred, VCSC superintendent Greg Parsley explains what the money is being used for and the changes being made.

The upgrades will allow Lincoln High School to be in great shape moving forward for the next 15 years. The next public hearing regarding the project is set for September 21st.

In other action at last night’s meeting…

For the fourth consecutive year, the V-C-S-C school corporation will continue with their Alice Academy software program to allow students another opportunity to earn their degree. The program, which meets once a week, allows certain students who have met required criteria to complete coursework in the alternative setting with Alice Academy software instead of expulsion. This program allows students to continue to earn credits towards their high school diploma outside of what is a traditional school day. It is another tool to get kids to graduate on time and earn their degree. Mr. Kim Prout will continue to be the teacher.
