WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT GRANT

A grant for Workforce development in Knox County is 1 step closer to being submitted.

At last night’s county commissioners meeting Greg Jones of  the Southern Indiana Development Commission asked the county commissioners to submit the proposal by August 28th. The total local match required for the grant is $250,000.  Knox County would only be responsible for $50,000 of it, due to both Gibson and Sullivan Counties being involved as well. However Jones says they are looking to turn to a private foundation to obtain the local match, which means the county would be responsible for a smaller amount. Jones says including Sullivan and Gibson in this initiative makes the region more qualified for the grant.

The motion to submit the proposal was approved. Jone’s went on to say that there will be a public hearing regarding the grant before the date of submission occurs.

ZONING CHANGE

Knox County Motosport’s  is going through a re-zoning process. Ryan and Tracy Snyder have been running the track from their private home. However for liability reasons they need to switch the type of zoning that is required for them to make the business legit. According to Tracy Snyder the track in Knox County is one of the largest in Indiana, which has drawn people from all over the state to practice on their track. The 1st reading of the ordinance to change the zoning was done at last nights County Commissioners meeting, a Motion to refer the ordinance to Area Planning was made.
