Illegal drugs, a gun and cell phones found in Tuesday night traffic stop in Washington.

State Police released information Wednesday on a Tuesday night drug investigation in Daviess County.

Trooper Mitchell Weir saw a vehicle east on Van Trees in Washington making a turn at 10:36pm Tuesday night.  He saw the car go left of center nearly driving into the grass on the wrong side of the road.

The car was stopped and Weir smalled marijuana coming from the vehicle. The driver, 18-year-old Zachary E. Johnson, gave the trooper a small bag of pot he had in his pocket.  Washington Police were called and the canine unit, “Diesel” assisted in finding over a quarter pound of marijuana, a .22 caliber handgun, pellet guns and numerous cell phones.  All the items were in a backpack belonging to an unnamed 17 year old passenger in the car.

Johnson was jailed in Daviess County for marijuana possession and maintaining a common nuisance.  The male teen was taken to the Washington Police Department where meth was found on his person. He was taken to the Southwest Regional Youth Village in Vincennes charged with possession of meth and marijuana, dealing marijuana, reckless possession of a firearm and visiting a common nuisance.
