Members of the Swimland Board of Directors appealed to the Bicknell City Council last night for assistance in paying this summer’s water bill.

Amanda Hagen presented council members with a bill for seven thousand dollars which was only for the first part quarter of the season. Hagen acknowledged there are problems with leaks at the swimming pool which added to their cost this year.

Councilman Terry Stremming says that the leaks need to be repaired. He spent several days at the pool this summer monitoring the water meter and acknowledged that the pool was using more water than necessary to keep the pool filled.

Stremming says the pool is an asset to the city and they need to do whatever they can to maintain it.

He made a motion that the city waive the water bill and work with the pool board to locate and repair the leaks.

Randy (Raise-ner) Raisner was the only councilman to vote against the measure. Although he was in favor of assisting the pool board with the water bill, Raisner didn’t agree that the city should be on the hook for paying for repairs to the swimming pool.

Swimland closed for the season on Sunday. Efforts to locate the leaks are expected to get underway shortly.
