Joanne Moan, age 87, of Lawrenceville, Illinois, passed away Monday, July 27, 2015, at her residence. She was born October 30, 1927, in Lawrenceville, Illinois, the daughter of Herman and Mildred B. (Arbuthnot) Weir. She married Robert L. Moan on January 23, 1948, and he died October 12, 2002.
Joanne worked at Raggo Printing and was an Avon distributor. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Lawrenceville where she was very active in her church. Joanne volunteered as a Gray Lady at Lawrence County Memorial Hospital. She enjoyed cooking and quilting.
Preceding Joanne in death were her parents; her husband, Robert; one brother, Ronald Weir, and two sisters Mary Lou Large and Zelma Childress.
Survivors include a son, Kevin Moan of Lawrenceville; a daughter Vicky Sterling and her husband Richard of Clinton, Illinois; one sister Pauline Cunningham of Belpre, Ohio; three grandchildren, James Queer, Victoria Joanne Klingler, and Mary Elizabeth Queer; three great-grandchildren, Lucas Klingler, Levi Klingler and Audrey Klingler. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews who fondly referred to her as “Auntie Jo”.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Friday at Emmons-Macey and Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville.
Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Lawrenceville City Cemetery.
