Watermelon Festival kicks off Friday

The annual Knox County Watermelon Festival is almost here. The Knox County Chamber of Commerce has announced the festival is being held over two days, Friday July 31st and Saturday August 1. The festival will begin Friday evening with vendors setting up at 5, entertainment at 7 and a new event, the Old National Watermelon Glow Run. Knox County Chamber of Commerce President Marc McNeece explains the new, family event.

To kick off things on Saturday morning, starting at 7 AM the Farbest Foods Great American Grill will take place. The grillers compete in 4 categories with prizes given out in each category. Activities will continue throughout the day Saturday, highlighted by the ever- popular Watermelon Queen contest and Baby and Toddler Watermelon contests. The Vincennes Animal Shelter is holding a Watermelon Pet Contest at 4 PM, where all the proceeds go to the shelter.
