Dorothy Irene Shaw, 99, of Vincennes passed away on July 25, 2015 while in hospice care at Good Samaritan Hospital.
She was born October 1, 1915, in Vincennes to Joseph N. and Irene M. (Walters) Shaw.
She graduated from St. Rose Academy in the class of 1933. Dorothy retired from Indiana Bell Telephone Company in 1978 after 45 years of service.
Dorothy was a member of Basilica of St. Francis Xavier (Old Cathedral) and its Altar Society. She was also a member of Bishop Simon Bruté Society, Daughters of Isabella, Telephone Pioneers of America, Vincennes Historic and Antiquarian Society, Old Northwest Corporation, Indiana Military Museum and Psi Iota Xi Sorority.
Surviving are her nieces, Catherine (Terry) Hird of Henderson, KY; Camille (David) Ulrich of Fairfield, OH; nephews, Stephen (Barbara) Cannon of Vincennes; Richard (Mary Zoe) Cannon of Morgantown, IN; David (Carla) Ostendorf of Indianapolis, IN; great nieces, Amanda Hird of Henderson, KY; Kathleen (Bryan) Spindler of Greenwood, IN; Christina (Sam) Larcomb of Henderson, KY; Corynn Cannon of Fishers, IN; Christine (Joe) Doss of Indianapolis, IN; Megan Ulrich of Fairfield, OH; great nephews, Scott (Christina) Cannon of Indianapolis, IN; Christopher (CarrieAnn) Cannon of Evansville, IN; Daniel Cannon of Maryville, TN; David (Tressie) Hird of Versailles, KY; Patrick (Amy) Cannon of Warsaw, IN; Jeffrey (Kim) Ostendorf of Chicago, IL; great-great nieces, Brielle and Katelyn Cannon of Indianapolis, IN; Hannah Cannon of Evansville, IN; Hadley Hird of Versailles, KY; Kendall Cannon of Warsaw, IN; great-great nephews, Elijah Cannon of Evansville, IN; Jackson and Ryan Larcomb of Henderson, KY; Brayden and Hunter Spindler of Greenwood, IN.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters; Helen Shaw, Margaret Daniels, Catherine (Betty) Ostendorf, and Patricia Cannon.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at Basilica of St. Francis Xavier (Old Cathedral) at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, July 28, 2015 with Rev. David Fleck officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday also at the church until the hour of the service. She will be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery.
