River flooding continues

River flood warnings are in effect for much of the area.

 

Along the Wabash at Vincennes,  a warning is in effect through next Tuesday.  Wednesday the river there was at 20.9 feet, nearly five feet above flood stage.  Extensive agricultural flooding is in progress in areas not protected by levees.  River Road in Lawrence County, Illinois is flooded from the Lincoln Memorial Bridge to the east edge of Billett.

The National Weather Service say the White at Edwardsport is above the 15 foot flood stage and will continue to rise for the next few days.  It’s expected to reach over 21 feet by Sunday afternoon and start to fall by late next Thursday, July 16th.  Bottomland will flood and Old Vincennes Road and 358 are expected to flood.

At Petersburg,  minor flooding is forecast. The White there is two to four feet above flood stage..
