Paul Robert Allender, age 76 of rural Bridgeport, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Wednesday morning, July 1, 2015. He was born June 2, 1939 in Lancaster to Paul Leslie Allender and his wife Pansy Patricia (McJilton) Allender.

Paul married Faith Brewer March 4, 1960 in Bridgeport at the Free Methodist Church, and she survives.

Paul proudly served our country as a member of the United States Army. He then worked and retired from being an electrician in the coal mines for Old Ben Coal Company. Reading, walking, camping, working in his shop, and spending time with his family were among things that Paul enjoyed doing.

Surviving family includes: his wife of 55 years- Faith Allender of rural Bridgeport: four children- Michael Allender and wife Brenda of rural Bridgeport, Steven and wife Kathy of Apopka, FL, Nina Lemeron and her husband Tony of Bridgeport, and Lisa Klein and partner Angela Jones of Franklin, KY: eight grandchildren- Jon-Michael Allender and wife Heather, Christopher Allender and wife Kallie, Cody Allender and wife Whitney, Ava Allender, Trevor Lemeron and wife Amelia, Alayna Lemeron, Ryan Klein, and Briana Klein: six great-grandchildren- Grayson, Cooper, Owen, Maxton, Alydia, and Aria Allender: one step-brother- John Baughman and wife Pam of Lawrence, KS: one step-sister- Edith Powers of Gaithersburg, MD: and three sisters-in-law- Nina Poland of Lawrenceville, Ines Catterton and husband Charlie of Sumner, and Pat Madden of Vincennes, IN

He was preceded in death by: his parents: one great-grandson-Holden Christopher Allender: and his step-father- Lester Baughman.

A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 4, 2015 at the Cunningham Funeral Home in Bridgeport. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place in the Bridgeport City Cemetery. Military rites will be given at the cemetery.
