Charles Randall Dutton

Charles Randall Dutton, 69, of Vincennes, passed away at 9:50 am on July 2, 2015 at Good Samaritan Hospital.

He was born on September 30, 1945 in Vincennes to Robert O. and Laura Louise (Baker) Dutton.

Charles farmed for many years and graduated from Fritchton High School in 1963. He was a 50 year member of the 1080 Millwright and Carpenters Union, a lifelong member of the Royal Oak Presbyterian Church where he had served as an elder, Masonic Lodge #548 in Monroe City, and the Scottish Rite.  Charles enjoyed tractor pulling and drag racing. In 1979 he started pulling for TNT Motorsports. In 1987 he won the championship ; won Chapel Hill TN three times, and Bowling Green,  Ohio once, and in 2000 he won the National Farm Machinery Show in Louisville, KY. In 2005 Cole and Charles built the tractor he pulled until January of 2015.  Charles did all his own work on the tractors and cars.

Surviving is his wife, Susan (Threlkeld) Dutton, whom he married May 27, 1964; his daughters, Carol (Bryan) Dutton Ruble and Laura (Terry) Turner both of Vincennes; a brother in law, Wayne McClure of Vincennes, and his grandchildren, Cole Randall Vieke, Sidney Maria Vieck, Ellen Paige Burns, LCpl James Dutton Burns, and Henry Barrett Turner.

Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, Robert J. Dutton, and Sidney Dutton; and a sister Mary Janet McClure.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 am Monday July 6, 2015 at Goodwin Funeral Home with Michael McClure officiating.  Pallbearers will be Marlin Dreiman, David Shaffett, Mike Robinson, Brownie Robinson, Cheryl Dreiman and John Dutton. Burial will be in the Bruceville Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 2-6 pm Sunday at the funeral home.
