Alice M. Devers

Alice M. Devers, 83, of Vincennes, passed away July 2, 2015, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville, IN.

Alice was a homemaker, and a member of the Ridgecrest Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Alice enjoyed camping and fishing, and was known to cheat at dominos.

Born September 26, 1931, in Evansville, IN, she was the daughter of Sherman and Thelma Smith. Her parents; sisters, Marjorie Slaughter and Louise Genco; and brothers, Sherman, Carter, Donnie, and Elmer Smith preceded her.

Surviving is her husband, Calvin Devers; children, Brian Devers of Evansville, IN, Brandon Devers of Vincennes, Bruce Devers and his wife, Celia, of Vincennes, Bret Devers and his wife, Lori, of Vincennes, Baree Chandler and her husband, Frank, of Stamping Ground, KY, and Brock Devers and his wife, Connie,  of Vincennes; a brother, Richard Smith of Newburgh, IN; a sister, Bernice Halter of Denver, CO; eleven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, at 12:00 noon, at the Ridgecrest Baptist Church, 1820 McKinley Avenue. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 – 12:00 on Monday at the church. A private family burial will occur later.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ridgecrest Baptist Church.
