Man jailed in Petersburg for battery

A Petersburg man was arrested by state troopers Sunday morning after an investigation into the burglary of a home and the battery of one of the home’s occupants.

State Police were called to Memorial Hospital in Jasper at 8:43-am investigating a report of a man who had been battered. He was identified as 39-year-old Brent T. Miller

Miller was staying at a Winslow home occupied by Sarah N. Thomas.  Troppers say that about 7-am Sunday morning, 40-year-old Billy D. Thomas forced his way into the home, went to the bedroom and hit Miller several times in the face.  Miller suffered fractures to the nose and face.

Billy Thomas was later arrested at a 7th Street apartment in Petersburg. He was jailed for felony burglary, for forcefully entering the home, he was also charged with felony battery.
