Martin Miller, age 92, of rural Lawrenceville, IL, passed away Thursday, May 21, 2015, at United Methodist Village-Main Campus. He was born August 22, 1922, in Bowling Green, KY, the son of Eura A. and Fannie A. (Pargin) Miller. He married Edith Chism on January 27, 1946, and she survives.

Martin worked at Texaco Refinery for 32 years as a heavy equipment operator. He was a Veteran with the United States Marines, having served during WWII and earned a Bronze Star at the Battle of Iwo Jima.

Martin was a member of New Hope Christian Church. Other memberships include the Elks, VFW and American Legion. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, woodworking, and gardening.

Preceding Martin in death were his parents; four brothers, Wilber, Alva, Vance and Alfred and one sister Dorothy Bisaha.

Survivors include his wife, Edith, of rural Lawrenceville; a son, Michael Miller of Mooresville, IN; a daughter, Deb (Dan) Kelley of Olney, IL; three grandchildren, Lyndsay Shotwell, Sean Kelley and Ryan Kelley, along with three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday at Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral home.

Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Crest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery with military rites.

Memorials may be made to New Hope Church Food Pantry or Good Samaritan Hospice with envelopes available through the funeral home.
