Joseph Eugene Greenlee age 94 of rural Lawrenceville, passed away at his residence surrounded by his family, May 9, 2015. He went to to be with his Lord and Savior, who he faithfully served here on earth.

Joe was born in Lawrence County on October 31, 1920, to Glen and Artie (Miller) Greenlee. His mother, father and sisters all preceded him in death.

Joe was married on June 19, 1943, to Ruby (Palmer) Greenlee. They had one daughter, Nina and husband Bob Pinnick of Lawrenceville; two sons, Roy and wife Jodie Greenlee of Lawrenceville and Kirk and wife Trudy Greenlee of Dundee, Michigan; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Joe’s passion was farming. He began that passion at the age of 12. He enjoyed spending time with his father and they carpentered together for many years. After his father passed he continued his love of farming and carpentry till his retirement. Joe loved his Lord and was a hard worker in the church. He served as a teacher and elder for many years. He was proud to be involved with the Whitehouse Church Food Pantry that blessed the community. He also loved working with the youth in Girl Scouts and 4-H. He was an active member of the Farm Bureau and he was a school board member for Bridgeport High School. He worked part-time for the USDA (formerly ASCS office). Many knew they could call Joe and he would help them in their time of need. He had many friends who called him Grandpa and Uncle Joe. He and his wife, enjoyed many years of camping and fishing as they traveled all 50 states and some foreign countries.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Wednesday at Whitehouse Christian Church.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 am Wednesday at the church.

Burial will be in Whitehouse Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Whitehouse Food Pantry or Good Samaritan Hospice.
