Harold G. ‘Heavy’ Flanders

Harold G. ‘Heavy’ Flanders, age 84, of Sumner, Illinois passed away on Sunday, August 09, 2020 at the Carle Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney, Illinois. He was born on May 25, 1936 in Lawrence County, Illinois, the son of Lester Darrell and Mildred Marie (Wagner) Flanders. He married Patricia S. O’Dell on May 17, 1956 and she survives.

Harold retired from AMF/Roadmaster/Brunswick in Olney after working there for 35-1/2 years. He also worked on oil rigs and was a farmer for many years. He was a member of the Olney Eagles, the NRA, as well as Hope for Tomorrow, where he served on the board.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother, Charles Flanders.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia; two children, Harold Ray Flanders of Sumner, Illinois and TerriLynne Majors and husband, Bill of Olney, Illinois; one sister, Martha Self of Seymour, Indiana; seven grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, August 15, 2020 at 1:00 PM CST at the Sivert-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Sumner, Illinois, which may be found with the following link: https://www.facebook.com/Emmons-Macey-Steffey-Funeral-Home-Burial-Cremation-Services-241234759332208/. Visitation will be on Saturday from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM CST at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Petty Cemetery.
