CUBS HOLD OFF REDS 8-7

The Chicago Cubs jumped out to a big lead and then had to hold off the Cincinnati Reds 8-7 Monday night in game 1 of their four game series at the Great American Ballpark. The Cubs led 6-0  after two innings behind Jon Lester who was outstanding going 5 innings pitching no hit ball. But the Cub Bullpen nearly gave the game away with 7 runs before Jeremy Jeffries picked up his first save of the season. The Cubs scored 8 runs on 8 hits with 2 errors and the Reds scored 7 times on 6 hits with 1 error. Reds starter Wade Miley took the loss. Anthony Rizzo homered for the third time and David Bote and Willson Conteras each added two hits in the win.
