CHASE LEADS TO LAWRENCE COUNTY CRASH

A police chase in Lawrence County Saturday evening led to an Indiana man being hurt in a single vehicle accident on U.S. 50 6 miles east of Lawrenceville. Illinois State Police at Effingham report that at around 9 p.m. a 2006 Chevrolet being driven by 25 year old Tyler Stailey of Mitchell was being pursued east on 50 at a high rate of speed. Stailey attempted to make an unsafe pass of a vehicle and veered off the road and into the median. The vehicle then traveled back onto the westbound lanes of U.S. 50 before attempting to cross the median again. It then rolled over and eventually came to rest. Stailey was injured and taken to a local hospital. After investigation, Stailey was charged with multiple offenses including Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding Police, Unauthorized Registration, No Valid Drivers License, No Valid Registration, Operating an Uninsured Vehicle, Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident, Improper Overtaking on the Left, Following Too Closely, Improper Lighting, Driving the Wrong Way on a One Way Road, Illegal Crossing of the Median, Improper Lane Usage and Failure to Signal When Required.
