Mary Lou Thompson

Mary Lou Thompson, age 90 of rural Lawrenceville, passed away Wednesday, July 15,
2020 at Gentlecare of Vincennes. She was born June 4, 1930 to John Floyd Hayes and his
wife Gladys (Melvin) Hayes.

On December 7, 1947, Mary married William J. “Jack” Thompson in Vincennes. He
preceded her in death in 1996.

Mary was a loving homemaker to her family, loved tending to the flowers in her garden,
a voracious reader, enjoyed shopping, and thoroughly enjoyed her horses in her younger
years. As a farmer’s wife she had many duties and tended to them all. For 40 plus years,
Mary was a dedicated and dependable school bus driver for Unit 20. She was also a longtime member of Rising Sun Christian Church.

Surviving family includes: her daughter- Judy McCrory and husband Noble of
Lawrenceville: two granddaughters- Christina Hess and husband Thomas of Vincennes,
IN and Jacie Carter and husband Aaron of Lawrenceville: three great-grandchildrenNicole Hess, Madison Carter, and Sydney Carter: and her twin sister- Marian Lee
Cardinal and husband Morris of Wheatland, IN.

She was preceded in death by: her parents- John F. and Gladys Hayes: her husbandWilliam J. “Jack” Thompson: one sister- Patsy Daffron: and two brothers- Jackie Eugene
Hayes and John Hayes.

A graveside service will be held for Mary Thompson at 2:00 p.m. (CST) on Saturday,
July 18, 2020 at Centerville Cemetery. Cunningham-Young Funeral Home of
Lawrenceville is in charge of arrangements.

PLEASE NOTE THAT COVID-19 GUIDELINES WILL BE OBSERVED. SOCIAL
