ILLINOIS CORONAVIRUS UPDATE

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 980 new coronavirus cases in the state Wednesday-the highest one day total since early June. There were also 36 new deaths with the overall death toll at 7,099. The IDPH also reported an increase in the number of infections among young people in Illinois who attended large social gatherings during the summer holidays. Lawrence County remains at 8 confirmed cases of the disease with 7 recovered, 1 active and no deaths. Neighboring Crawford County picked up case #19-a male in his 70s now in home isolation. Richland County also added a case-the 9th. A female in her teens from Olney tested positive and is now in home isolation. Contact tracing was done in both those cases.
