The City of Bridgeport will move to start shutoffs of city water services for non-payment of bills in August. The action was discussed at Tuesdays monthly session at City Hall. The city has suspended shutoffs during the pandemic but with things returning to normal for city operations, it was noted that many customers had amassed several months of unpaid bills. People wishing to work out or discuss payment arrangements can contact City Hall during regular business hours. The council did approve the 2020 resolution for the motor fuel tax program for around $120,000. City Superintendent Shannon Selby reported that new city water meter installation work is continuing. The council after lengthy discussion did move to pay up to $400 per phone for the updating of city police communications through T-Mobile. More work is continuing on the downtown green space project.
