The Illinois Department of Public Health reports there were 2,994 more cases of coronavirus reported Sunday across the state with 63 new deaths from the disease. That brings the new statewide total of cases to 61,499 with 2,618 deaths in 97 of the 102 Illinois counties since the pandemic began. The Lawrence County Health Department has reported that there was not a confirmed 4th case of the virus over the weekend in the county. An IDPH reporting error regarding a case location caused an additional case to be added to the county total. The confirmed total remains at 3. Richland County also remains at 3 cases, Wabash County 2 and Crawford County 10. The state of Illinois is planning to launch a new contact tracing program. Thousands of people will be hired and trained as contact tracers and hopefully be ready to begin their duties at the end of May.
