The Illinois Department of Natural Resources late last week added Red Hill State Park here in Lawrence County to the list of facilities that reopned under Governor J.B. Pritzger’s modified stay-at-home order. The park was not on the original list issued by the IDNR initially. Parks will be open from sun-up to sun-down with guests being allowed to hike, bike, fish, boat and mushroom hunt while practicing social distancing and other measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. Visitor centers, campgrounds, playgrounds, shelter houses, beaches, and concession stands will remain closed. Other state parks in the area also reopening include Beall Woods State Park south of Mt Carmel in Wabash County and Sam Parr State Fish and Wildlife Area near Newton in Jasper County.
