It is now official. The Illinois High School Association Board of Directors Tuesday voted via video conference to cancel all spring sports state tournaments. The decision comes after Fridays closing of all high schools for the remainder of the year by order of the governor and the state board of education. IHSA executive director Craig Anderson said that logistics would prevent the conducting of the various tournaments in sports such as tennis, baseball, softball, soccer and track and field. Anderson did leave a slim hope of some athletic competition into the summer if things change regarding health safety for student-athletes , coaches, and the general public but it would be difficult to pull off. The board also suspended summer contact days this year until such gatherings are deemed safe by state government and health officials
