Lawrence County is now among the counties in Illinois reporting confirmed cases of the coronavirus disease. The Lawrence County Health Department reports two individuals testing positive. One is a female employee at the Mach-1 Convienience store at 15th and State Street in Lawrenceville. She had last worked there on Monday March 30th and Wednesday April 1st. The victim has self-quarantined and is not hospitalized at this time. The Health Department is continuing to monitor her condition. Mach-1 parent company Meyer Oil of Teutopolis has announced the closure of  the Lawrenceville store. It will remain closed until the necessary actions are taken to safely reopen by decree of health officials and is being thoroughly disinfected by a professional cleaning service. The second positive case was confirmed Monday evening. That patient is currently hospitalized at Lawrence County Memorial in Lawrenceville. The patient is considered low risk with minimal contact with the public and will also be monitored by the LCHD. Local health officials continue to emphasize practicing social distancing, regular hand washing, and wearing a mask while in public.
