The Illinois High School Association remains hopeful that a modified spring sports season will get underway when schools eventually reopen in the state. That according to Executive Director Craig Anderson in a recent radio interview. Anderson says that spring sports are currently on hold and have not yet been cancelled. The IHSA did cancel it’s boys basketball tournament earlier in March and ordered no organized spring games or practices while schools remain closed. Tuesday March 31st was the original target date for the resumption of spring sports but that has been pushed back by the ongoing pandemic. Anderson did say if spring sports resume the seasons could extend into the summer with potential postseason play but only with approval from the IHSA Board of Directors.
