Continued population loss means that the state of Illinois will lose at least one of it’s 18 Congressional seats in Washington D.C. and perhaps even two. Election Data Services recently released its annual projections of which states in the U.S. will gain or lose U.S. Represenatives at the turn of the decade and those showed that Illinois will most certainly lose one seat with two a possibility. The loss is due to people leaving the state. Last year more than 114,000 people moved out of Illinois. The seats will be realigned in 2021 after the 2020 Census numbers are finalized.
