GROUND BEEF RECALL

Amity Packing Company out of Chicago is recalling approximately 2000 pounds of raw ground beef products that may be contaminated with clear, thin, pliable plastic. That according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food Safety Inspection Service.  The raw ground beef was produced in early January of 2020.  Products being recalled are 1 pound Vacuum-Packed packages containing “Pre 95% Lean/5% Fat Ground Beef with a use by date of 1/31/2020. The items were shipped to retail locations in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky and 6 other states. The problem was discovered after two consumer reports of finding the plastic pieces in the ground beef. There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of the ground beef. Consumers who have purchased the products are urged not to consume them. They should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase for a refund.
