Two new Vincennes City Firefighters were sworn in to duty Monday. Mayor Joe Yochum administered the oath to Steven Ross and Randy Jones both of Vincennes during the Board of Works and Safety meeting before family and friends after being introduced by Fire Chief Sonny Pinkstaff. Both have had extensive training in fire fighting methods prior to joining the department. Also sworn in to duty to the Vincennes Police Department was Cody Waggoner. He was previously with the department before departing to the Lawrenceville Illinois Police Department then returning. The Board did approve an amendment to the Main Street Phase Two Contract with the firm RQAW for around $17,000 to allow more work with regard to water quality in the ongoing project. The move was made upon recommendation of City Engineer John Sprague.
