The Illinois Department of Transportation says that traffic fatalities in the state in 2019 are down from 2018 figures. According to figures from IDOT there were 46 fewer traffic accident deaths so far this year than in all of last year. Officials say that increased awareness of traffic safety laws along with increased enforcement patrols are among the facots in the downturn. The figures reveal that most of the fatalities in 2019 have occured on State and U.S. Highways.
