Illinois officials have approved two more cultivation centers to grow marijuana ahead of the start of legal recreational sales next year including a southeastern Illinois location. The Illinois Department of Agriculture announced Tuesday that Ataraxia Inc out of Albion in Edwards County and a site in Shelbyville will join the list of now 16 cultivation centers throughout the state. Initially only cultivation centers that have been licensed to grow medical marijuana can apply for recreational use. Sales start in Illinois January 1st.
