INDIANS HANDLE SALUKIS

The Lawrenceville Basketball Indians scored 20 straight points over a 10 minute span in the second half and held the Red Hill Salukis scoreless during that period to break open a tight game and pick up a 57-35 win Friday night in a battle between the two Lawrence County rivals at LHS. The Tribe led 15-14 after one quarter and 26-19 at the half but then used a strong zone trapping press to muzzle the Salukis at the outset of the third quarter to cement the contest. The Indians led at the time 26-22 and ended up leading 43-22 entering the final period and won handily. The 2-3 Indians were led by Skyler Tewell with 15 points while the 3-4 Salukis placed two in double figures-Drake Allen with 15 and Camren Ray with 12. The win was also a Little Illini Conference victory for the Indians. The Indians also won the JV game 60-29. Zeth Underhill had 14, Damon Zollars 11, and Leyton Ivers 10 for the Indians while Dawson Holtz had 13 and Andrew Maxfield 10 for the Salukis. Both teams see action next week-The Indians play at Oblong Tuesday while the Salukis are off till next Friday when they host Olney
