The firearm deer hunting season kicked off Friday across the state of Illinois. Hunters from Lawrence County and throughout the area and region will be out in full force this opening weekend. According to the Illinois Department of Natural Resources it is the most popular hunting time of the year. The DNR reminds those hunting to observe and practice safe hunting procedures.
