Next week the Lawrenceville Basketball Indians will open their 2019-20 season in the Basketball Capital Classic at LHS and it will be the final season on the bench for head coach Randy Bishop. The veteran coach made that announcement Thursday during a pre-season interview with the media. Bishop said that it’s time for a new coach at LHS and he has enjoyed coaching at the school and is facing a knee replacement in the future and wants to focus on that and other interests. Bishop is a member if the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame and has had success wherever he has coached. He has compiled more than 600 wins overall with 400 wins at Illinois schools Martinsville and Casey-Westfield and also spent 9 years coaching at Branson Missouri before taking over at Lawrenceville in 2012.
