Illinois State Police report that four people were killed in a two vehicle collision on Illinois State Road 185 in Montgomery County Saturday. Killed were 72 year old Jackolyn and 73 year old William Protz both of Sullivan Illinois and two 14 year old female juveniles from Vandalia. All four were in the same vehicle which was hit head on by another near the city of Cofeen. They were returning from an Illinois High School football playoff between Vandalia and Williamsville when the fatal mishap occured. The Protzs were the parents of Vandalia High School principal Randy Protz and one of the female juveniles killed was Protz’s daughter. A prayer vigil was held Sunday at Vandalia High School.
