The Lawrenceville City Council met in regular session Thursday night and were informed by Mayor Don Wagner of three pending Illinois Department of Transportation projects that will affect the city in the future. IDOT plans to pave Illinois Route One from Water Street to Orchard Street. They are also looking to remove the traffic lights from the intersection of Route One and Lexington Avenue, one of the busiest in the city. Mayor Wagner says the city does not agree with that proposal and will fight against it. There will be some more work on the Embarras River Bridge east of Lawrenceville. It is not known if the bridge will be closed to traffic. The mayor says that  work is continuing to alleviate some water discoloration problems in the city and he also indicated he likely will call another public forum on the question of recreational marijuana sales inside city limits in 2020. No firm date has been set. The mayor did present a Key to the City to local businessman Bob Tracy, owner of Tracy Electric in Lawrenceville for his service and cooperation with the city.
