Illinois State Police District 12 based in Effingham has released the October activity and enforcement figures. District 12 includes Lawrence, Richland, Crawford, and other counties. There were 207 calls for service during the month with troopers initiating over 1500 incident investigations in the field. There were 666 citations issued–329 were for speeding, 11 DUI arrests were made, there were 71 seat belt citations, 2 child restraint citations, 59 distracted driving violations, 8 move over violations and 51 criminal arrests. Troopers investigated 84 traffic crashes during October across the district-four of those were fatal.
