The St Louis Cardinals announced Tuesday that manager Mike Schildt has been given a new three year contract through 2022. He led the Redbirds to a 91-71 record in his first full season as manager after taking over for Mike Matheny in July of 2018. The Cardinals won their first NL Central Division title since 2015 and then beat the Atlanta Braves in the Division Series. They were swept in four games by the eventual World Series champion Washington Nationals in the NL Championship Series. In addition to the Schildt extension, Cardinal ownership extended the contract of President of Baseball Operations John Mozeliak through 2023 and the contract of General Manager Michael Girsch through 2022.
